KARACHI: Customs Collectorate Export Karachi has registered a case against Syed Safdar Hussain, owner of Messrs. ZS Brothers Ampex, after foiling smuggling of Sugar and Jaggery under the guise of confectionery items.
According to the details, the importer Messrs. ZS Brothers Ampex, in violation of SRO 566, tried to clear the consignment from the Green Channel, however, the Customs Department received a tip-off that the consignment was being cleared through Miss Declaration.
Upon the information , the officials of Export Collectorate Karachi checked the consignment of confectionery items including Rewari, red chilli, sweets and packing machine going to Europe and recovered approximately 13 thousand Kg Sugar and Jaggery which was not declared.
The customs department confiscated the goods and initiated legal action after registering the case for evading huge customs duty and taxes.
It is worth to mention that the said items are prohibited for exports without Government NOC.
