Islamabad: Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has announced the removal of the ban on the import of luxury goods and said that “duties are being imposed on unnecessary goods.
” While giving a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday, Miftah Ismail said that “the Prime Minister does not want luxury items.”

He said that because of the condition of the IMF, the ban on the import of luxury items is being lifted, but he said that “taxes will be imposed on the imported luxury items as much as possible.”

Exports increased by 8 percent in August while imports fell by 19 percent and the trade deficit narrowed by 30 percent.
Muftah Ismail claimed that “all IMF conditions have been met.” There will be a board meeting of the IMF on August 29.
