KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue has set up a separate unit to deal with the inquiry against officers as soon as possible.
According to an FBR announcement, this unit has been established at the FBR headquarters. In which action against officers of grade 16 and above in cases of corruption and incompetence will be monitored.
So that the inquiry can be completed in time, the unit will be headed by the Secretary and Second Secretary of FBR and will report to Chief IR HRM.
FBR sources say that this unit is a continuation of the wishes of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, personally directed to complete the ongoing inquiry into the allegations leveled against FBR officers.
Earlier on August 16, 2022, the FBR had issued a directive to the field formation that the Prime Minister had directed to complete the disciplinary proceedings promptly. According to the FBR, the inquiry officer must conduct the inquiry within 60 days.
In addition, it will be the responsibility of the head of the tax office and the collectorate to preserve the document related to the case.
