ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan terming the FIA’s notice a malafide action has refused to give detail about PTI bank accounts, on Wednesday.

According to the sources, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has sought records from PTI Chairman Imran Khan regarding the total funds provided to the party by national and international donors.

Following the direction of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), FIA’s inquiry team issued a notice to Imran Khan seeking details of the foreign funding including the party’s accounts and other relevant information.

However, Imran Khan instead of providing the required information to the FIA wrote a letter to the agency officials with a demand to take the notice back within two days, otherwise, legal action will be initiated against the authority.

Imran Khan said in the letter that the FIA is not empowered to act under the Political Parties Order 2002. Supreme Court has declared the ECP as an administrative institution in its several verdicts so the ECP is neither a court nor a tribunal, he mentioned.

He further stated in the letter that the ECP had issued only a report about the prohibited funding and did not give any decision.

The letter further reads that ECP could not direct any agency to act on the report.
