KARACHI: In ongoing drive against trade of Non Duty paid cigarettes, The Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue Karachi has raided a Godown and confiscated 110 cartons from the premises of Malir Town.

In a joint action here in Karachi today, The team of Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue Karachi along with staff of IREN Enforcement acted on instructions from DG I&I- IR Islamabad.

According to the details, The Director I&I-IR had received a tip bout huge quantity of Non-duty paid local cigarettes, stored in a Godown in Mohammadabad Housing society Malir City.

Acting on the directions, the team headed by Deputy Director I&I-IR Karachi, carried out successful operation which led to the recovery of 1,100,000 sticks of cigarettes, comprising of 110 cartons and worth over Rs10 million.

The Directorate I&I-IR Karachi  and coordinator (IREN) Karachi hub has shown strong resolve to continue such operation in future in order to curb trade of illicit cigarettes and to promote tax culture in the city. After making successful the recovery, the further investigations were being underway.
